sentence correctness

Dear teachers,

Are the following sentences correct ?

1. You're not going to miss the train. There's a little time before it leaves.



2. There were so many mistakes in her exam paper that she has failed.

Hello, Hela! I'm not sure for the first one; all I can say is that I would write "You still have some time before it leaves", but it doesn't mean your version is wrong. A native will come & tell you.

I'm not sure for the first one; all I can say is that I would write "You still have some time before it leaves", but it doesn't mean your version is wrong. A native will come & tell you.

As to the second one, I think you need to agree the tenses: "There were so many mistakes ... that she failed", or "There are so many mistakes ... that she has failed".

I agree with you as for the second sentence but I found it written that way so I just wanted to make sure.

I find the first example not so much ungrammatical as slightly inconsistent.

1. You're not going to miss the train. There's a little time before it leaves.

The first part has a sense of determination on the speaker's part that the addressee won't miss the train. Cf.
