Sentence corrections

Hello, could you please check whether the sentences below are correct. Inside the paranthesis I wrote the word that I want to use in the sentence. If I am using it wrong, will you please use it in a correct way. Thanks.

1-(bustling)- The Times Square was bustling with tourists.

2-(maritime) Maritime countries such as Italy are very developed in building ships.

3-(shorthand) His teacher didn't understand the boy's shorthand notations, thus he failed in exam.

4-(stifle) The strongest person is not the one who has the largest muscles, but he is the one who stifles his anger in though situations.

5-(discontent) An increase in taxes and the sordid conditions of the country caused discontent among the citizens.

6-(scuffle) A scuffle broke out between the two well-known politicians

7-(reportedly) His reportedly rich husband was actually someone who was pretending to be rich.

8-(lurk) "Danger is lurking down below deepest oceans." said the pirate ominously.

9-(setback) Government puts a lot of setbacks to people who wants to buy an automobile by increasing the taxes.

10-(pep talk) After his wife's pep talk, he felt as if he could deal with every difficulty which he may encounter.
