I am confused when to use "which" or "that". I am also confused by "restrictive clauses" and "non restrictive clauses".
Can someone please check my answers to the following questions:
Combine each of the following pairs of sentences into one sentence using "who", "whose", "which" or "that":The questions: - I saw the beggar. He had once been wealthy.
- The book is in our library. It is very exciting.
- Shirley went to visit her uncle. He is a farmer.
- That old lady is my grandmother. Her house was burgled.
- Dick drove the car to town. He is a good driver.
- I saw the jet fighter. It flew over our village.
- Bill was the captain of the school team. He was the tallest boy.
- I caught the ball. It was driven towards me.
My answers: - I saw the begga who had once been wealthy.
- The book which is in our librar is very exciting.
- Shirley went to visit her uncle who is a farmer.
- That old lady is my grandmothe whose house was burgled Or. That old lady whose house was burgled is my grandmother.
- Dick who is a good driver drove the car to town.
- I saw the jet fighter that flew over our village.
- Bill who was the captain of the school team was the tallest boy. Or. Bill who was the tallest boy was the captain of the school team.
- I caught the ball that was driven towards me.
