Sentence Correction help!

which of the sentences is/are correct?Eagerly waiting for the reply..thanks..

1.today is the birthday for our friend

2.today is the birthday of our friend

n whether 'the' article is appropriate to use here???

the first one is definitely not correct. The second one is ok... but I would use : "today is our friend's birthday"

I Guess it's be :

1-Today is the Birthday for our Friend (it's Meaning : Today is a Birthday For all our Friends but not a Person's Birthday)

2- Today is the Birthday of our Friend (it's show Meaning as it Should Be , it's Meaning : today is Birthday of One of Our Friend [Maybe it's be me or other])

this is the correct sentence 2. today is the birthday of our friend or you could say - today is our friends birthday
