Sentence correction and Fill in the blank

1)A citizen is expected to give allegiance to his country of origin.

Its written to replace "allegiance" with "loyalty" .But as per my knowledge "allegiance" is a one's duty or obligation and "loyalty" is what one feels.

Shouldn't the above sentence is good without any replacement?

My book says :-(C) .Does "truck him in" here means his mother awoke him?

Answer is :-(2) .Can anyone pls explain how can sordid(unpleasant,Filthy ..) distract the public taste.

I dont know what "stand with" here means. As per my knowledge "stand by" should be the answer.

Why not "to spend"?

You can promise or pledge allegiance. (You promise to do your duties as a citizen.)
You can give loyalty. (Promise to be loyal.)
