Could you please tell me if the underlined fragments are correct?
1) African American culture has been repressed since the slavery times because it was different from European standards. Ignorance gave a forum for misconceptions to be spread, and people became prejudiced against the differences the other culture introduced.
I would keep the tenses except for 'was' which I'd change into 'is/has been'
2) Some people might not know how to change feelings which were nurtured.
I think 'have been nurtured' would be more appropriate.

Yes, "is" would be better.
Ignorance didn't do anything to do with a forum.
"People" is way too vague.
To say that they became or grew prejudiced rather poisons the well.
