"forbidden from doing sth." is a disputed construction. Plenty of people use it; some people maintain that it is incorrect. The setter presumably is in the latter camp. There is an article about this at http://www.grammarphobia.com/blog/2015/08/forbidden.html

Persian LearnerWhat's wrong with 'from owning' ?
According to many it should be "to own". "from owning" is much less used than "to own", though its use has been increasing somewhat in the last 25 years or so.
