I wanted to send a query email to the respective department to know if the department has a provision that perspective student need to manage/confirm his MS thesis supervisor before the Application. Few department follow this rule. So I want to make sure if there is any rule.

I have written a letter of intent and answered few questions as a part of application for an advanced master degree programme. I would be grateful if you your help in correcting grammar and sentence formation. The essay and the questions answer are quite long, so I have mentioned only the selected paras I have confusion in terms of grammar and sentence formation. I will highly appreciate if you got any other suggestions.

My interest in policy related issues blossomed during the final years of my undergrad studies and it intensifies day by day. Hence, I am applying for abc programme. I have always wanted to do research and work on (with) transnational organizations, multilateral organizations and civil society organizations (CSOs). Based on my background and personal pursue, I am convinced that ‘track 1 (specialization in …)’ suits me well.

2. As I want to stay in academia, I got to complete a Ph.D. at some point of time to expand intellectual horizon. My present plan is to publish an article within next four to five months based on my previous dissertation. Then I will start my Master at the University of B, if I get the privilege of studying in UOB.

3. I am presently working at PSS department in Xy University. PSS Department does not offer any full fledge bachelor programme in the social sciences, rather provides different courses. Students from different faculties take these courses as a fulfillment of their total credit requirement. The department is planning to open up two bachelor degree programmes in social sciences: one in policy and another one in ..logy.

4. Therefore, in this situation, the advanced Master degree of GD from University of B will certainly increase my employability at my present university. Side by side, I will try my best to utilize the time during my study period at UOB in order to develop outstanding research and analytical skills and to distinguish potential areas of interest for a future PhD. After returning to home country, along with teaching, I will be developing my doctoral proposal and will try to make a publication on the dissertation/write up that I will have to finish at IOB.

5. I would like to apply mixed method approach in my dissertation. The plan is to apply quantitative methods along with qualitative analysis. I intend to conduct comparative studies across different regions. I might use secondary dataset along with the primary data. To process and present comparatively large data set, applying descriptive statistics is a handy option. So the essence is that descriptive statistics will be used to describe the situation. Along with descriptive statistics, qualitative analysis will be deployed to have a rigorous understanding and explanation of phenomena that will ultimately set the stage for analytic generalization.

6. I have just selected the research field broadly. I have not narrowed it down. So far I have tried to give an idea about my area of interest. I am at the very early phase of academic life, so I am still open in terms of formulating my ideas. I will narrow down my research topic for the thesis as I progress with my studies at IOB. I will finalize my thesis topic after consultation with faculties & potential supervisor, and considering the feasibility of the study and the significance of the study.
