Sentence correction

1. A employee is entitled to bonus on the basis of day he has worked.

2. A employee is entitled to bonus on the basis of day worked by him.

Please tell me if the first sentence is correct or not. If it is wrong, then please tell me the reason.
If I want to remove the ''by'' word from the second sentence, then is the 1st sentence would be appropriate?
Thanks in advance.
