Sentence correction

Hello. I have written some sentences and I would like you to tell me whether they are correct or not.

1. She needs to be consulted by a nutritionist.
(Does the meaning change if I write "needs to consult"? I think that consult means seek advice, but I was asked to make a sentence using "to be consulted")

2. After Paul having been employed for over 10 years, he decided to open his own business.

Thank you in advance.
