Sentence correction

I heard a song that said: god give us the reason youth is wasted on the young. Is it correct because I feel like it is missing sonething.

How about: god give us the reason why youth is wasted on the young.
Or
God give us the reason as to why youth ia wasted on the young.

Are the two sentences I wrote correct?

Thanks!

The original is acceptable; it may be considered a shortened form of "reason why ...". (However, "reason why" is itself criticised by some as redundant, and there is some debate around the "reason that/why" question. For me, "reason why" is natural though.)

"***" should have a capital.

Thank you. What about the second option: reason as to why ..... Is that correct?

You see it used. Colloquially I find it acceptable, if slightly redundant. I would not advocate its use in careful writing. Opinions may vary

Thank you. Then what would you use and suggest?
