Sentence correction

'Comes' in the sentence below refers to 'prey,' not 'snakes and mice'. Please correct me if I m wrong.
The owl is a nocturnal bird so its prey such as snakes and mice also comes out at night.

I'm not one to say you are wrong here, but I think that come certainly sounds better. Someone else may be able to give a reason that it might be acceptable.

Yes, 'come' sounds better but technically 'comes' might fit better.. I am a bit confused.

In my opinion, "comes" here is the verb of the subject "its prey", and prey is uncountable so I think that the plural verb "come" doesn't agree with the subject "its prey".

Prey can operate as a plural noun. There are quite a few citations in COCA.

I agree "comes" refers to "prey". It sounds wrong because it follows "snakes and mice".
"Its prey comes out at night."
"Its prey, such as snakes and mice, comes out at night."
"It preys on snakes and mice which come out at night."

I don't think so that the use of comma before 'such' and after 'mice, is correct in your sentence below. On the other hand, if we omit commas, then the confusion remains.
Its prey, such as snakes and mice, comes out at night.
