Sentence correction

Hello,
I have two questions.

Do I need to repeat the subject in the first sentece after 'so'?
Isn't 'being willing to...' in the second sentence a dangling modifier?

1) A pedagogue is a guide for youth, so has to be haracterized by patience.
2) Being willing to sacrifice time to pupils is a condition to see satisfying effects of one's work.
