Sentence correction

My parents proposed the idea of me and my husband opening and running a French restaurant together.

Does this sentence scan well for natives?

I am wondering if there is better way to phrase it especially with regard to the formation of words after "proposed"

Thanks

>> It scans well enough for me, but frankly the technically correct form, which I find awkward, is My parents proposed the idea of my husband and my opening and running a French restaurant together. I would avoid both by restating it thus: My parents proposed that my husband and I open and run a French restaurant together. Of all the choices this last one strikes me as best.
