Sentence correction

Please check the sentences.

1) At the age of 3.5 years some pupil are not able to speak properly. For them learning the alphabets would be bit difficult; this won't be found at the student joining at 6 years.

Q) Will there be any semicolon right after difficult?

2) Furthermore, a six-year student will show more dedication to study. They would understand the importance for studies.

Q) Should there be a fullstop after study? Can I use a comma?
