Sentence correction

Hi,

do the following sentences make sense, please? I've added explanations in order to make sure if I get them right.

The axe got lodged (=stuck) in the log as he tried to chop it in two. (=divide it into two parts)

He indulged himself in playing videogames. (=he was fond of / liked playing videogames)

You needn't have bought potatoes, we still have ample (=sufficient) supplies of them in the basement.

I was short of time so I rustled / whipped up some lunch. (=make quickly lunch)

He plunged his hand into the bowl and moments after he withdrew it to see a lot of blood. (=emerged his hand)

He swept away her fears by cheering her up. (=he got rid of her fears)

My dog finds a weird pleasure in wallowing in a mud. (=rolling over in a mud)

This problem can't be disposed. (=worked out)

I'm pining for the case to be solved. (=I desperately want the case to be solved)

I'd like to propose a law which would induce social changes. (=bring about)
