Hello Maverick. Usually here when you have to write a note about a student's absence, you just say "Feb. " The school doesn't care where he was last night, what time he came home, or what time he started to feel ill.

Hello Maverick.

Usually here when you have to write a note about a student's absence, you just say "Feb. 18: My son, Peter Jones, is home sick today."

Hello Grammar Geek,

One of friend wrote letter to the school. As its day boarding, she wanted to complain that her son got ill because he came around 7.15pm yesterday which was very late. He will not be able to go to school today. I dictated her that line and posted here to confirm whether it's right or wrong?

Oh, okay. It's not a note excusing the child from school. You need to say what you want the school to do, however.
