Sentence Correction

in 1731, Anders Celsius’ original thermometer had a scale where the value of 0 corresponded to the boiling point of water; after he died in 1744 the scale was reversed to its present form.  - Is this correct?

Don't we use 


in 1731, Anders Celsius’ original thermometer had a scale IN WHICH the value of 0 corresponded to the boiling point of water; after he died in 1744 the scale was reversed to its present form.

"Where" may be a bit lower register, but both are common.

As an aside, I'm not comfortable with "reversed." I think it assumes too much.
