Sentence correct?

It's only been about 4 weeks since she passed.

Passed = Died

Is the sentence correct?

Yes, if the context makes it clear. It is a rather delicate and slightly old-fashioned euphemism. We also say "passed away", probably more commonly, less quaintly, and certainly more clearly.

Correct.

passed is a shortened form of passed away.

Hello anonymous,

Yes, the sentence is okay. The verb "pass" or "pass away" is a euphemism for the word "die". "pass away" is commoner than "pass".

I have never seen "passed" used by itself to mean "died".

It is often used as part of a phrasal verb, to "pass on" or "pass away" as a more tactful way of saying "die".

I think "pass" is a transitive verb that needs an object: "She passed the winning post; she passed the exam." If everyone knows you are talking about an exam you might say "I am sure she will pass" or "It's only bee
