sentence: core-related holding

Hello.
I have problems trying to understand the bold phrase. Could you rephrase it or explain it in more simple terms?

Muscular imbalance in the shoulder girdle will cause dysfunctional movement patterns throughout the body resulting in core-related holding and bracing along the entire spine.

Top answer

Without asking my physiotherapy expert, I suggest it means that the imbalance will force the body to accommodate the dysfunction by using the muscles that are on either side of the spine to compensate, and they will become tense as a result.
