Sentence Constructure.

I like to relate the words in a sentence to be understood by the reader. I percieve this sentence as logical. The cat sat on the mat. Cat, sat and mat all relate to the cat and what it is doing with the words the,the and the on as connecting words. I do not believe in perfection for me or a language...but just to be understood! I have a long way to go too totally understand all the correct methods on how to use the langauge correctly.
Thank you for listening and understanding. feedback please. pljames

It's hard to disagree with your analysis. The preposition "on" is surely a connecting word. Without it, it would be impossible to "relate" the mat to the cat.
