Sentence construction with "than he did anyone else."

Hello,

Is it grammatically correct to write this sentence to indicate comparison:

He was in charge of the food, and he served himself more than he did anyone else.

Or should I write this instead:

He was in charge of food, and he served himself more than he served anyone else.
