which one of the two is correct or more correct:

Nothing would excite me more than to get an assignment, a consultancy work at this hour—freshly graduated and highly motivated.

or

1) Certainly not, when I don’t even stand a chance to give it a try. If my experience and observation are anything to go by, I don’t think I can make it anytime sooner. I’d undoubtedly persevere if there was a blinker of hope…
