Sentence Construction

Can someone check the whole paragraph and especially comment on whether the highlighted sentence makes sense?

"For the past 14 years, I was reluctant to go over to the kitchen , grab a glass, fill it with pure drinking water and gulp it all down the throat! Lazy, I’d have to say. But in recent years I got to know how important water is for your health and especially for your brain so I was aware of that but still reluctant to drink water. Until yesterday, I wasn't"
