Sentence construction

If a child discloses abuse, the actions that must be taken are:
- listening carefully - avoiding asking leading questions, such 'Where did they hurt you'
Does 'avoiding asking leading' read well. It's a lot of 'ing' and sounds very unnatural to me, but I don't know how else to phrase it. Can I have some ideas
