Sentence Completion

Hi all,

There is a multiple choice question. I don't know which option is correct. I found it a little hard.

Question:

----- that the derivatives of the word "hello" found their way into other languages.

A- The English language has borrowed words from so many languages

B- It was after Graham Bell invented the telephone in 1876

I need an explanation. Thanks.

Honestly I don't have any idea about this qiestion. I think both of them are possible here, am I wrong?

Both answers are possible grammatically. Only one makes sense if you use a combination of logic and common sense.

Yes, B is the better choice.

Hi

It is actually quite a long story. The word 'Hullo!?' can be used to express surprise and it is said that the first person to use a telephone answered in that way because they were so amazed that there was another person talking. So the word 'Hello' became the usual way to answer a telephone

I'm not sure that I believe it, but that is why 'B' is the better choice
