Sentence checking

Hi,

In my native language, there's a saying that goes along the lines of this:

Friendship ends where money begins

Could you tell me if the above sentence is grammatical and makes any sense to a native speaker?

Also, maybe you can think of an idiomatic sentence that carries the same idea as my sentence, in this case I would sure be glad to hear it.

Thanks !

Yes, it sounds good; it makes a nice proverb in English, too. The English proverb is 'Lend your money and lose your friend'.
