Sentence check vol.14

Hello.

I need help with the following sentences:

  1. Punks seem to be the most rebellious of the subcultures (shouldn’t it be just “of subcultures”?)
  2. Blockers are aggressive and like violent fights armed with knives and baseball bats. (can we say like this or it seems to conjure up the image of “a fight” being “armed”?)
  3. They are not afraid of breaking the law, and the idea of ending up in prison or a borstal institution doesn't deter them from committing crime. (shouldn’t it be “committing a crime”?)
  4. It seems that European parents are too protective towards their children. (shouldn’t it be “of” instead of “towards”?)
  5. Is it “to bring up the kids” or “to bring up kids” and “to run the household” or “run a household”?
Thanks a lot!

1. This sentence is okay.

2. This is a little edgy grammatically - perhaps by design, since the subject matter is controversial - but okay. The context indicates that the blockers are the ones armed with knives and bats. And in any case, a fight is an abstract concept and cannot be armed with a knife.

3. This is okay.

4. This is okay.

5. All four would ok
