Please help me find the error in the following example.
"Everyone should be careful to use a singular pronuoun with a singular noun in their writing."

I just made a mistake:
"When writing, everyone should be careful using a singular pronoun to refer to a singular noun."
I restructured the sentence not for the **** of it but because "everyone" does not agree "their." I could have used his or her, but IMO, that would seem a little annoying.

"When writing one should be careful whilst using a singular pronoun to refer to a singular noun."
(not sure about whilst / while - always had a prob with that)
