Sentence check

Hi!

I would like to refer to a person whose life was in accordance with his beliefs.

Is the sentence below natural? (It is the translation of a text). Could you please make any suggestions?

"He experienced whatever he believed and practiced whatever he preached."

Thanks in advance!

The idea of "experiencing whatever one believes" seems a little odd to me.
