Sentence check

Hi!

Could you please check if the sentence below is correct?

I am not sure about the adverb I use. Are there any suggestions?

"F. Dostoevsky in his outstanding book “The Brothers Karamazov” writes characteristically: “Hell is the torture of not loving.”

Well, it all depends on what you are trying to say. The sentence means that "**** is the torture of not loving" is characteristic (i.e. typical) of the kind of thing that this author would write or would be expected to write. If that's what you want to say then "characteristically" is correct.
