Sentence analysis

Hi guys.

I got a task from my teacher which said that I should analyse the given sentence, correct it and tell why I did it like that.

My sentence #1 is: Before he left said he goodbye to his lover.
My correction #1 is: Before he left he said goodbye to his lover.

My sentence #2 is: After the argument the man did not spoke to his wife for days.
My correction #2 is: After the argument (did?) the man (did?) not speak to his wife for days.

Are my corrections correct? Why or why not? Please help!
