Sentence

Hello,

1. I washed and tried the clothes.

Here verb-phrase has been coordinated. we may assume it as reduction of clause coordination, in this view, it may be a compound sentence.

I would like to know whether this kind of sentences having verb-phrase coordination is a simple sentence or compound sentence.

could any one please explain this?

From Wikipedia:
A simple sentence consists of only one clause. A compound sentence consists of two or more independent clauses.
