sentence

Hi
Please help me with this sentence.

Suddenly, Howe woke up as he saw the solution to the problem.

Howe suddenly woke up as he saw the solution to the problem.

Here, the second sentence tells that Howe was not fully asleep because of his dream and thus his waking up was the result of the solution he found to the problem.

But, the first sentence tells us that his waking up was not related to what he saw in the dream and he woke up suddenly for some other reason.

Am I correct?

Top answer

There is no difference in meaning. Without more context, I assume that Howe saw the solution while asleep (presumably in a dream), and consequently woke up.

Yes, he has dream in which he sees the solution. Actually It is about Elias Howe, the inventor of sewing machine.

Thank you, fivejedjon.
