Why is the following sentence correct? I'd read a review of the film in a magazine specialising in science fiction stories.

Kanou I'd read a review of the film in a magazine specialising in science fiction stories. Specialising is a participle [which is] used instead of that/which specialises. It is normal in English to use a present participle instead of an active verb in a relative clause.

Cool BreezeMaybe in your native language a passive structure and/or a different tense is used for to specialise in something and that confuses you? I mention this because in my native Finnish that is the case.
Yes, in Spanish it is different that's why I got confused and it looked so unfamiliar to me. Thank you for your time and explanation! =)
