Can someone please help me use the word man as an adjective in a sentence?

The construction site had a temporary man lift which could take workers up to the twentieth floor. Maybe it's a compound noun. I'm not sure.

manhole and manhunt and man-hour are compounds. man power is not.

My American Heritage has "man-sized" and "manpower" as single words. I'll check some other sources. - A.

Ads on the web have both "man lift" and "manlift." I don't find "man-lift."
