Oh, I was so busy cleaning up the formatting that I forgot to respond. I think it was supposed to be "If you ADD a compound..."

And the answer to that is no, a compound subject and compound verb can still make a simple sentence.

The frog sat at the edge of the pond and The frog and the toad sat and talked at the edge of the pond are both simple sentences.
