Sentence

Sir,

"Babinca is the most delicious sweet in the world," said the gardener. 'Don Alphanso used to sit right here,by the fountain,sip fresh Darjeeling Tea and eat Babinca. Once .........'

This a paragraph from a text book.

I could not understand the meaning of "Once .......".

It's difficult to be sure without the rest of the sentence.

It could mean 'On one occasion', e.g.

'Once, when Don Alphanso was eating his babinca, he was so overcome by its deliciousness, that he swooned and fell into the fountain...'

Or 'once' can coordinate two clauses, with the meaning 'as soon as', e.g.

'Once Don Alphanso had eaten h
