As CJ commented, the sentence is not semantically smooth nor logical.. As stands, the sentence has one adverbial phrase and one noun phrase separated by two commas which is not well formed in my opinion. I presume this about school, right ? Writing assignment- do you mean composition or essay? If so, then it is normally recognized as part of the home work. It didn't make sense, unless you have other assignments, e.g. math and biology.
So based on my perception of the context, I'd suggest this: I will lighten the load of home work assignments which will be sent to you through email. ( I am not sure if any teacher will give out assignment through emails though in the US....)

Thank you for your comments. The homework we give varies:Sometimes students are asked to read a particular piece in the text, prepare for a group discussion and some are involves writing answers based on the questions sent.

grammarfreakI am not sure if any teacher will give out assignment through emails though in the US....)

We do send homework, mainly worksheets based on the lessons already taught. It is very convenient to reach the students during long breaks.
