My book says:
I heard her play the piano. (sensory perception)
I heard that he has been ill. (mental perception)
I noticed them come in. (sensory perception)
I didn't notice him leaving. (sensory perception)
If so, could I say
I noticed that the door was open. (mental perception ?)
I noticed the door be open. (sensory perception ?)
I noticed the door being open. (sensory perception ?)

I don't know what your book is trying to tell you, but hearing and noticing are sensory perceptions. Is there even anything that's "mental perception"? What do they mean by that?
