Sensitive to

[L]"Literary analysis that is sensitive to the larger contours of the account will reveal the artistic hand of the final editor."

I found this usage of "sensitive to" very odd and rare, to me.

I feel it's quite different from the way used in "babies are sensitive to light and noise"

1.What does it mean?

2. Is this way of using the phrase often?

3. Does the quote mean:

literary analysis that have been paying particularly close attention to the larger contours of the accout....???

In this context sensitive means discriminating, perceptive of nuances, aware of subtleties, or having critical discernment, a depth of perceptiveness, or refined artistic judgment. It is used in this sense mostly when discussing judgments about, analyses of, and reactions to artistic productions such as paintings, music, and literature. Paying close attention is just a part of the meaning, as described above.
