Sensitive times

Hi

Does the phrase "sensitive times" mean the same as "turbulent times"?

Top answer

No, they do not mean the same things, although, theoretically, times could be both turbulent and sensitive. Turbulent means stirred up or in a state of agitation. An example in a sentence: The war protest years of the sixties were turbulent times.

Hi,

This thread reminds me of the curse, 'May you live in interesting times', meaning turbulent times.

This is often quoted as a traditional Chinese saying, and indeed often attributed to Confucius, but my understanding is that it is not Chinese at all.
