Sensebly

Hi.
What is the difference between playing sensibly and playing logically?(chess)

Thanks in advance

Top answer

Not much. Perhaps 'logically' sounds more thoughtful and more thorough. Both expressions seem already implicit in the idea of playing chess.

You can play insensibly, based on your emotions.

Yes. The author says

'So far both sides have played sensibly'

I want to know if 'sensibly' is different from 'logically' here.Is it?How?

I've noticed that you seem to be reading a lot into the word choice in these chess analyses. I'm not sure this type of close reading is likely to be of any use - from the sentences you've posted, I've gotten the impression that whatever you're reading is, by and large, written in a relaxed, conversational tone. Word choice in such a context is usually fairly inexact.
