Senetences check pls?

Hi,

Could you check these sentences for me, pls?

Can this flimsy chair sustain / withstand my weight? (Which word is correct or better in here?)

Do you think if this bridge could sustain / withstand the earthquake? (Which word is correct or better in here?)

My mum compelled me to study harder.

I feel compelled due to my mum's pressure. (Can this be correct?)

I believed that / it broke / it had broken / it was broken. (All correct, past simple and adjective)

Cheers
