The door was close.

Ans. The door was closed.

Why is "close" nor correct?

The word 'closed' used in your sentence is an adjective meaning 'not open'. One of the meanings of 'close' is 'near in relationship'. For example, he is my close friend.

By the way it should be 'sentence', not 'senetce'.
