Semtence correction

I must insist on finishing preparing my exam and doing my homework from top to bottom a day before exam and the time we should pass up it. (I mean if exam is on Friday I must finish it before Thursday)

Could anybody correct and adjust this sentence for me?

Hi, I must insist on finishing preparing my exam and doing my homework from top to bottom a day before exam and the time we should pass up it. (I mean if exam is on Friday I must finish it before Thursday) Could anybody correct and adjust this sentence for me? I think you are talking about two things, so I'd make it two sentences.
