I am a court reporter. Lawyers frequently will ask questions in the following way:
You grew up in Arizona; is that correct? The home that you're in now, it was your mother-in-law's home; is that correct?
Is it correct to use the semicolon in this fashion, or is it correct to use a period instead?
Both versions are correct.
