Grammar

semicolon or dash or comma...please correct.

Is the following correct? Semicolon? Dash? Comma? I often have side comments like this relating to the statement just before, but I never know the right punctuation to use.

Per Wayne, we're okay; no need to get hotel rooms for customers. (In this case I used a semicolon because there was already a comma)

I'll take care of it, no problem. (I used a comma here)

If the main clause already contains a comma, I invariably use a semi-colon to separate the clauses. I'll take care of it, no problem. The use of comma here is justifiable, IMO.

"Is the following correct? Semicolon? Dash? Comma?" If you write short, non-grammatical sentences, they quicken the pace of the text.

Hi,

This is the way we speak. As pointed out, it's not really fully grammatical when you write this way. Consequently, why worry too much about correct punctuation? Just put what you feel like putting. I'm sure people will understand you.

Best wishes, Clive
