Semicolon or comma

Hi,


In the following sentence, do we use a semicolon or comma after Germany?


Richard Burton, Director, National Library; Robert Frost, Secretary, State Library; and Susan Taylor, Ambassador of Germany, / ; were among those present at the opening ceremony.

I would use a semicolon as it then clearly includes "Susan Taylor, Ambassador of Germany" in the list. It looks slightly odd, but you are being consistent in marking each item off with the same punctuation mark. If you don't like it you can turn the sentence round: Among those present at the opening ceremony were....
