Hello. Question: I know semi-colons are used to separate items in a list when the items contain commas. However, what do I do if only some of the items in a list contain commas? For example:
This summer I visited Chicago, Illinois; Seattle, Washington; Miami, Florida; many parts of Oregon; Minnesota; Boston, Massachusets; and North Carolina.
What do I do after "Oregon" and "Minnesota" because those phrases don't contain commas in between? Is it a comma or a semi-colon after?
Thanks!
